Beach Season is a Canadian duo comprised of Sam Avant and Simon Blitzer exploring the sound existing within the intersection of R&B and Electronic Pop music. We sat down and chatted with Sam and Simon about their recent decision to leave their record label, how to build longevity as artists, discovering their love for making music, and plans for the future. Big things to come from these lovely Calgarian boys!
Our friend Reuben Bullock is the front man of Calgary’s very own, Reuben and the Dark. He gave us some time in the middle of their North American tour to talk music, skateboarding, and overcoming self-doubt. His words are honest, insightful, and rather inspiring - making this is a very special one for us.
Nature Of is a four piece indie rock band based out of Edmonton, AB who were kind enough to let us ask them a few questions as they hit the road for their west coast tour. They discuss the feeling they get after playing a new song for the first time, what it's like working on their upcoming album with Marcus Paquin, and creating the score for the All Aboard Documentary.
Our friend Mason McConnell picked up a guitar at 18, started writing music incessantly, and recently began recording music under the moniker "The Smallest One". Have a read to learn more about the Smallest One, how Mason approaches songwriting, and how he got in touch with Gordon McBryde, a visual artist who has created artwork for the likes of Morrissey, Her Space Holiday, and Radical Face.
